Planning is a key factor in every facet of life.  Consider teaming up with a neighbor when needing maintenance or work to be scheduled.  Have a contractor or business bid both projects to be completed at or near the same time, hopefully, at a cost savings to you.  Talk up your interests and see if neighbors can recommend resources, share experiences or offer advice to save time and money.  Let your neighbors know when you are traveling.
